Heat Treating Helper

Metallurgical Solutions, Inc., an ISO 9001:2015 company, is seeking to employ an individual as a Heat Treating Helper. A description of this position and the desired attributes for a successful applicant are provided below.

Position Responsibilities
Assist Heat Treaters in hardening, tempering, annealing, stress relieving and normalizing metal components by performing any combination of the following duties:
·      Cleans foreign matter (scale, rust, grease, oil) from metal work pieces as needed.
·     Hang work pieces on racks, hooks, fixtures, or places them into baskets, assisting Heat Treaters
with charging work loads into furnaces manually or by using hoists.
·       Wire work pieces for suspension into salt baths and furnaces.
·      Assist Heat Treaters with quenching work pieces using oil, water, brine, molten salt, or cooling in
air.
·       Mark identification for parts, as needed, on work-in-process routers.
·       Wash work pieces in hot water to remove salt residues after heat treating.
·   Clean work pieces after heat treating using abrasive grit, aluminum oxide and glass bead
blasting media.
·        Assist with packaging of heat-treated work for shipments to or pick-up by customers.
·        Perform other duties under direct supervision of Heat Treaters, Supervisors and Managers.

Background
·   Applicant will have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
credential.
·    Some experience working in commercial heat treating, captive heat treating, metal finishing, or
manufacturing desired. In lieu of the above work experience, a successful applicant will undergo
a rigorous three-to-six-month in-house training program, designed to focus on developing safe
heat-treating skills, production / quality awareness and customer satisfaction.
 
Compensation / Benefits
·     Starting pay - $ 14.00 / hour, with a performance review after a 90-day probationary period. After
this probationary period, annual reviews are conducted on an employee’s work anniversary date.
·     Healthcare - Blue Cross / Blue Shield of RI & Delta Dental of RI.
·     Uniforms provided through a cleaning service.
·     Seven major paid holidays are observed.
